Elbcenter,  Office and shopping complex built after 1990 in Pieschen at the beginning of Bürgerstrasse on the Elbe side. By incorporating a new bus stop system and attractive shop design (the upper floors, however, seem rather unimaginative), including several restaurants in the complex and across the street in the renovated old buildings, this area initially began to develop into a new district center. Due to the closure of the key restaurants and a loss of business, the district (unfortunately) lost its importance again in recent years. Opposite is the Ballhaus Watzke with a beer garden and a wonderful view over the Elbe landscape to the Ostragehege, the view goes from the Elbe arch from the city center to Übigau.

On the left side of the river runs a cycle track almost continuously, called Elberadweg, in some cases there are attractive alternative routes on the right side of the Elbe. ()

Only in the area of the historic town centre the urban land development reaches near the river, the road Terrassenufer in front of the river is regularyly inundated with floods regularly. This section is marked by the Brühlsche Terrasse / Bruehl terrace, the "balcony of Dresden". One sees the historical silhouette lying behind from the opposite bank, here is particularly beautiful the famous "Canaletto view". The faszinating view is also backdrop for the annual "Film nights on the river bank", which take place in July and August in front of the Ministry of Finace building

Between Loschwitz and Pillnitz as well as between the Elbe and the Elbe slope takes place every year The Elbhangfest took place on the last weekend in June.

The Elbe has several small ports, so in Loschwitz, the Leipziger suburb and Pieschen as well as the Albert port for trade. The latter being transformed at present, its water surface already almost halfed.

The two banks of the Elbe are currently connected in the urban area by nine bridges; in a few years, once the Waldschlößchenbrücke and a road bridge at Niederwartha will be eleven.

World Heritage Site 2005 - 2009

Expansion plans for the Elbe Park were implemented by April 2010, some of which were controversial. Since then, over 170 stores and branches from all sectors invite you to stroll and shop.
